PORTISHEAD Primary have been crowned county champions after a dramatic day at the Somerset Finals.

After finishing second in their group, the Year 5/6 boys' football team had to withstand two penalty shootouts in both the semis and the final to lift the coveted trophy in Street.

In the group stages, Portishead won three and drew two of their five matches, only missing out on top spot by virtue of goal difference.

That set up a meeting with Backwell in the semi-finals but the two teams could not be separated before Portishead succeeded 4-2 in the shootout.

Peasedown were their opponents in the final and again the tie went to penalties. Portishead dispatched all four of their spot-kicks and saw goalkeeper Oliver make two superb saves to seal victory.

Well done boys, you continue to make us immensely proud.
