Remembering a Year of school closures today.
The 23rd of March 2020 was the first day our school was closed as the pandemic took hold.
Reflecting on this past year, the human and financial cost to individual, families, businesses and education, it is hard to feel anything other than sombre.
However, one year on I wanted to take time out of my day to pay tribute to the amazing journey we have been on as a school community. I am in awe of the way that our staff team have developed new skills, found new ways of teaching and I am so grateful for the kindness and care they have extended to children, families, each other and the community.
Our parents have faced a once in a generation challenge as you will also have had to face up to your own unique challenges. We understand how difficult home-schooling has been, and recognise that many of you have had to multi-task and hold down jobs at the same time.
It is a testament to the power of education that the world has been able to develop vaccines in record time. Whilst the news continues to share challenges, the general picture is one of huge improvement and we keep our fingers crossed for appropriate further relaxation of the restrictions that keep us safe.
Our site is in bloom, Easter in on the horizon and Spring is in the air.
Thank you to everyone who has made this difficult year so much more bearable.
Tomorrow will be a better day.
